After 10,522 days, David Ingram is back in Thessaloniki. The leading foreign basketball player in the history of Hercules will be the central figure of the celebration of 113 years since the founding of the club, but also a century since the first day of operation of the basketball department. The last time he visited the city, where he spent the best years of his career, was on February 4, 1993, for a match of his team, Maccabi Tel Aviv against PAOK, in the context of the European Championship (s.s. of the current Euroleague). Almost 29 years later, he set foot on Greek soil again and could not hide his joy and emotion for his return to the place where he lived for five years (1987-1992) and was loved as few by the world of Hercules.
«When I went to the airport in the US, I was a little nervous. Many years have passed since the last time I was in Greece and Thessaloniki. Upon my arrival, I noticed that many things here are new, but they remain very beautiful. I was even positively impressed by the airport in Thessaloniki. I look forward to meeting the friends of Hercules, from whom I have great memories and I will have them forever in my heart. I spent the best years of my career at Iraklis and I will never forget that. Because of the fans of HERACLES, the people in Greece and of course the friends I made here. It was a great experience that I experienced, that I will always carry inside me“, Stressed the 63-year-old Ingram today.
«I will never forget the atmosphere at our stadium, the games with Aris and PAOK, as well as with Fanis Christodoulou’s Panionios. I enjoyed these games and generally my presence in Thessaloniki, either on or off the field. I do not see the time to see my old teammates and opponents again, to remember the old ones and to taste the Greek food».
The reason for his presence in Thessaloniki is the 113th birthday of Hercules and the completion of 100 years of life of the basketball department, which he served, leading him to great victories. He received a relevant invitation from the General Assembly. Hercules to come to Greece and welcomed her with joy. «There will be a lot of candles, because Hercules is a team with a long history. It is something extraordinary for Thessaloniki and Greece in general, when a club is 113 years old and the basketball team completes a century. This means that good work is done over time and I am really very happy and proud to be part of the huge history of the club».
