Chelsea will be formally involved in the fight to sign Rafinha as United leader, but Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the Brazilians could sacrifice their chance to sign the sought-after winger.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a Premier League star over the past two seasons, and his performance helped Leeds maintain their top-flight position last season.

Founded as a regular player in Tite’s squad ahead of the World Cup in November, Rafinha is taking the next step in his career and has his own club.

The ‘Barcelona’ seem to have led the battle to conquer the former Rennes star, but they struggle to raise the necessary money to compete for his signing.

Arsenal made an opening offer earlier this week, but Leeds rejected it as ridiculous in response to reports that Thursday’s offer was worth less than €40.40m.

Tottenham are also closely monitoring the Rafinha situation, but their focus is on buying another Brazilian striker, Richardson, from Everton.
