Former Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram has died after a brief battle with cancer.
Gorham, 58, who also represented Scotland, played for Ibrox between 1991 and 1998. In the meantime, he has played 260 times, winning five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.
Born in Berry, Gollum began his career at Oldham Athletic and then moved north to play for Hibernian in Edinburgh before moving to Glasgow.
After spending time at Rangers, he played for many teams in both Scotland and England including Notts County, Sheffield United, Motherwell, Manchester United, Coventry, South Queen and most recently Elgin City. ..
According to a statement on the Rangers FC website, the club “is deeply saddened to announce the death of legendary goalkeeper Andy Gorham after a short battle with cancer.”
In honor of Gorham, the club said: “He is a member of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame and was named the PFA and Football Writers’ Scottish Player of the Year for 1992-1993.
“Gollum has also won the Scottish International Award as a Cricketer and remains the only person to have played top-tier international cricket as well as major Scottish football internationals.”
He concluded that: “The thoughts of the directors, management, players and staff are with Andy’s family today and demand that their privacy be respected at this sad time.
“Funeral details will be announced soon.”
