Zhou Guanyu thanked fans for their support after the Alfa Romeo driver was involved in a major accident at the start of the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
As the lights went out for the race at Silverstone, Alpha Tauri’s Pierre Guthrie hit George Russell’s Mercedes, sending the Brits to the side of Zhou Guanyu and flipping his car.
The Alfa Romeo then slid at high speed towards the Abbey Corner barrier before landing on the fence.
The race was immediately red-flagged and it was some time before Marshall was able to get the Chinese driver out of the car on a stretcher before taking him to the medical center.
Nearly an hour after the accident, the Grand Prix resumed with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. taking his first F1 victory, and during the race the FIA announced that Joe was safely discharged.
He was later filmed speaking to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and tweeting to his fans about his condition.

Seeing the crash, Russell stopped and ran to check the lap before exiting the race, but he didn’t want to.
