Today (18/07) there were reorganizations in the organizational chart of PAE AEL, with the “maroons” announcing the start of their collaboration with Tasos Veneti and Stathis Tavlaridis.
The former is expected to be in the position of technical director, while the latter will have the role of sporting director, while both signed a contract until 2025.
We remind you that the coach of AEL in the new season will be Panagiotis Goutsidis, his assistant and analyst Alexandros Vergonis, while the goalkeeper coach Luigi Chenamo.
The relevant announcement in detail:
“PAE AEL announces the inclusion in the organizational chart of the team’s technical leadership, of its former football players, Tasos Venetis and Stathis Tavlaridis.
Larisa and cup winner in 2007 with AEL, Tasos Venetis, returns from Corfu where he has been active for the last few years and takes over the duties of the Chief Technical Director, while Stathis Tavlaridis, one of the leading players of his kind in Greece, takes over the duties of Sports Director and scouting officer.
The cooperation of PAE AEL with both of the aforementioned executives will initially have a duration of three years.
Who are they:
TASSOS VENETIS (technical director)
Tasos Venetis was born on March 24, 1980 in Larissa. He started his career from Apollo Larisas and was transferred to Iraklis at the age of 16, after his talent was spotted by teams from all over Greece. The following season he moved to AEL, receiving his baptism of fire at the professional level, where he played from 1997 to 1999 in 41 games and scored one goal.
He then moved to Scotland and spent three and a half years in the Premier League, specifically at Dundee United (67 games, 2 goals) with another six months at Ross County (9 games, 1 goal).
Venetis returned to Greece in 2003, where he played for Akratitos (23 games), Kallithea (24 games) to end up again in AEL in 2006, where he stayed until 2008. In 2007 he was a player of the cup-winning team, as in the course of ” crimson” to the title competed in six matches, but not in the final.
Then he went to OFI for a year, while from 2009 onwards he found his… Ithaca in Corfu, where he ended his career in 2017, playing for AO Corfu and AO Kasiopi (193 games, six goals in all categories). He was an international player with the youth teams (6 appearances), while when he stopped playing football, he was immediately hired as a technical director at AO Kassiopi/Corfu. Subsequently, he coached Odysseus Avlioten and Olympos Garitsas, amateur teams from Corfu.
STATHIS TAVLARIDES (Sports Director & Scouting Manager)
Stathis Tavlaridis was born in Serres on January 25, 1980 and – after 450 appearances for major teams in the Greek, English and French leagues and around 100 for all national teams – he ended his football career in June 2017.
Competing as a stopper, he started his career in Iraklis and after 4 years of development he managed to get a transfer at the age of 21 to Arsenal. He failed to establish himself at the Londoners and between 2001-2003 two loans followed to Portsmouth and Lille in order to get games on his feet. At the beginning of 2004, he was transferred to the French Lille, again on loan, but at the end of the season he signed a three-year contract with the club. Upon completion, in June 2007, he moved as a free agent to Saint-Etienne, where he remained for another three years in the French league.
That’s where AEL entered his life, as after 9 years of absence abroad, it was time to return home, signing for the “crimson” in the summer of 2010. The year was not positive, experiencing the relegation of the team to the second division in one otherwise problematic year as a whole. However, his path remained upward, managing to compete in OFI, Atromito, Panathinaikos and Ari at SuperLeague 1 level.
After his career in football, he immediately looked for ways to stay close to the sport he loves from a different position. Thus, he became a holder of the UEFAC Diploma for Academies, UEFAB, holds a degree in SportsManagement from MediterraneanCollege, while completing his studies for the UEFAMIP (ExecutiveMasterforInternationalPlayers). He had joined the organizational chart of AEK in March 2021, while for about a year he was head scout in the team’s academies, from which he resigned to assume the position of AEL’s Sports Director!
