Sevilla have moved to deny Barcelona’s proposal to hijack Chelsea’s contract with Jules Conde at the 11th hour, claiming they have not received the offer.
Koundé’s move to Stamford Bridge for £55m seemed official on Friday night, but rumors in Spain on Saturday morning point to something dramatic happening.
Barca are said to have spent the night in fierce negotiations with Sevilla, and soccer coach Matteo Alemany was able to reach an agreement in principle.
Koundé welcomed the move to Stamford Bridge, but his preference was to move to Barcelona, and he was even more convinced after a call with fellow international Ousmane Dembele.
But now, Mundo Deportivo report that the claim is exaggerated, with Sevilla claiming there is “zero contact” with Barca counterparts.
The only club they have agreed a fee for is Chelsea, but they are still waiting for West Londoners to submit paperwork to complete the transfer.
But Koundé is willing to delay his final decision for a while to see if he can raise the price of the transfer demanded by Barcelona -although it is incompatible with Sevilla-.
The Spanish club is fed up with the transfer story and wants to pay Koundé as soon as possible to use the money to start reinvesting in the team.
ElchiringitoSevilla, meanwhile, dismissed reports that Barca had accepted Koundé’s charges were entirely false, adding that they believed they were the latest ploy to take over the deal.
Chelsea and Barcelona are currently in the US for a pre-season tour, so further details on the status of the transaction will be scheduled for Saturday night.
Chelsea were very confident of securing a deal with Kandy after escalating negotiations late last week, and Tuchel looked good when he spoke to the media on Friday.
