Alexander Madsen was born in Valkeala, Finland on January 26, 1995. The 2.08m international with his country’s national team made his debut at the age of 16 for Kouvot, where he spent five years.
Since becoming an adult, Madsen has been a mainstay for his team for the next three years, averaging 7.3 points, 3.45 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1 block. In 2016, he took the next step in his career, by transferring to USK Prague. In the Czech Republic, he played for two years, being a key and irreplaceable player, scoring in a.d. 9.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 blocks.
VEF Riga was the next stop in his career, in 2019, being a very important cog in the Latvians’ machines, with ever-increasing performance, culminating last season. Madsen averaged 13 points, 6.3 rebounds and an impressive 44.3% from 6.75m, in domestic competitions and the Basketball Champions League, in which he also faced the “Queen”. With the Latvian team, the Finn won five trophies, while he was named player of the year in Northern Europe, namely MVP of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League 2022, MVP of the Latvian Cup 2022.
