The EOAM-University of Western Attica collaboration took on an even more official character after the relevant memorandum signed by the two bodies, which will be a “springboard” for joint actions in the immediate future.
The “green” swords won a total of nine medals, namely five gold, three silver and one bronze. Panagiotis Triantafyllou, the holder of two medals at the Paralympic Games, took three golds, while the other two were won by Vassilis Dounis.
The second place in the ranking was taken by PASYPKA Spartakos with four gold and one bronze, while the third place was taken by the Athens Eagles with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Before the awards, the President of EAOM-AmeA, Ioanna Karyofyllis, signed with the Rector of the University of Western Attica, Panagiotis Kaldis, a protocol of cooperation between the two bodies, who both last year and this year jointly organized the Panhellenic Wheelchair Fencing Championship at the headquarters of the Higher Educational Institution.
The event was graced by the presence of Paris Kontesis, representative of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, George Stamatis, General Secretary of Social Solidarity and Combating Poverty, George Kapellakis, president of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, Ioannis Lignos, president of the Hellenic Federation Xifaskias, Haris Perdikis, president of OSEKA, Christina Massiala, member of the Equality Committee of IWAS Fencing, and Efstathia Papageorgiou, vice-rector of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
On the sidelines of the Championship, the federal coach, Dimitris Kazaglis, gave a presentation of the sport, while the event closed with a special award to Ms. Papageorgiou, to the Professor and President of the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art of PADA, George Panagiaris, to the Deputy Professor of the Department PADA’s Physiotherapy and Institutional Disability Support Manager, Dafni Bakalidou, and PADA’s Head of Sports Department, Eliza Loukaitou.

Virtus European Summer Games: “Silver” Markidis in the 50m. backstroke, Arapoglou 3rd in 200m. butterfly
With Phaedra Markidis winning the silver medal in the 50m backstroke and Dimitris Arapoglou the bronze in the 200m butterfly, the curtain fell on the Virtus European Summer Games in Krakow, Poland.
Markidis, after second place in the 100m backstroke and third in the 50m butterfly, was also second in the 50m backstroke with a performance of 50.32, while Arapoglou in the 200m butterfly had a performance of 3:01.63.
Our country finished the event with a total of five medals (three silver, two bronze), with Phaedra Markidis and Arapoglou being the protagonists.
