A1 Women’s Handball: No derby at the start

The champion has a mission at home PAOK at its premiere A1 Women’s handballas it will welcome AOAOD Korydallos, as it emerged from the draw of the championship held today at the OCHE offices.

In the meantime, last year’s championship finalist Nea Ionia will face away from home AEK, which is preparing for the “maiden” season of its history in the “big salons”, as last season it won the title in A2 women’s. PAOK and Nea Ionia will face each other on Athenian soil, in the context of the 9th matchday (and last of the 1st round).

The new A1 women’s handball championship, which is scheduled to start on October 1 and end by May 30, 2023, features 10 teams. In the first phase, each team faces all the others at home and away (18 games), while after the completion of the regular season, the bottom two in the standings are relegated to A2. The top four ranked teams continue in the playoffs, where they face each other (1-4, 2-3) in the semi-finals to qualify for the final, with the “ticket” decided on the two wins. The teams that qualify for the final will “fight” for the title of champion, which will be decided on the three wins.

It is worth noting that Veria 2017 and Philippos Verias merged and the resulting team will compete in the new season in A1 women’s as Philippos Verias.
