Five women and eleven men on the dead list – 13 from Venezuela, one from Nicaragua and two others who have not been identified
Sixteen people, estimated to have been trying to reach the United Stateslost their lives and 47 others were injured in a bus accident, as it was announced today by the police of Nicaragua.
“Sixteen people lost their lives, five women and eleven men. Thirteen were nationals Venezuelaone from Nicaragua, and two of the victims have not been identified,” the announcement about the traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon underlines.
The bus collided with two cars and according to the police, “due to the collision and excessive speed, the bus driver lost control and (the vehicle) fell into a ravine”. Miraculously, the bus driver survived and was taken into custody.
The bus was traveling from the capital Managua to Halapaa city near the Nicaraguan-Honduran border through which many migrants transit with a final destination for the United States.
