Dominant Panathinaikos, “painted” the derby green!

With a gun in his hot seat in Agios Thomas, the Panathinaikos prevailed over him Olympic (3-1 set) in the first derby of the year in the Volley League and emphatically remained alone at the top of the standings!

Once again the Stepanenko and Hadava were excellent, they took critical attacks in places where the ball “burned” and despite the great offensive effort of Hippe and Salas, gave the three points to the team of Takis Economou.

The match

Olympiakos started the game exceptionally, with Giota’s block giving +5 air to its team (6-11), but Cross and Stepanenko gave Panathinaikos the opportunity to equalize (15-15). As soon as the two teams reached a draw again (18-18), the “greens” pressed the accelerator and with concise procedures did the 1-0 (25-19).

In the second set, the “clover” with the power of its people entered exceptionally (8-3), with the “red and whites”, however, managing to go ahead with Salas (13-14). Panathinaikos and Olympiakos went hand in hand until 17-17, where the hosts… did terrible things and took the lead with 2-0 set (25-23).

With the mind that if they lose the third set they will lose the game, the players of Paris reacted and escaped with 6-13. The “greens” were terrible then resulting in a draw at 14-14, with the set going point by point until 22-22, where some points won by Olympiacos did the 2-1 (23-25).

In the fourth and last set, Panathinaikos made it 9-5 and built a difference, which Olympiakos erased immediately and went ahead (9-10). From then on neither of the two teams could get a difference until 22-22, until the “clover” exploded and won with 3-1 (25-22).
