On the evening of Tuesday, July 26, the deadline set by the ETTU for the declarations in the European competitions of the period 2022-2023 expired and, through the E.F.O.E.P.A., three unions responded. Panathinaikos AO declared its women’s team in the Champions League, i.e. the top European Cup.
Olympiacos S.F.P. for the men and ASEA Sarises Florina for the women declared to compete in the Europe Trophy, the third interclub Cup.
The main news are three: That Panathinaikos becomes the first Greek team in history to declare participation and is going to take part in the Champions League. That with the participation of Olympiakos, a male band from our country is presented again in Europe after a very long time and thirdly that the Sarises are creating their own tradition, preparing their fourth participation in six years.
The Panathinaikos women’s team comes from winning the Europe Trophy last June. They were registered last year as well, but along the way they withdrew, because they did not have a formed roster within the time period that ETTU requested to be registered.
