Tyrone Mings pays tribute to captain John McGinn after Aston Villa captain was taken from him by manager Steven Gerrard.
England International, who were part of Gareth Southgate’s side at the European Championships last summer, have been depressed since Gerard replaced Dean Smith at Villa Park.
Mings has helped the Midlands club become a Premier League club since their promotion three years ago, but has faced a struggle to maintain his position after losing his armband.
Despite suffering from this problem, Mins says that Gerard’s decision is fine and believes that McGinn’s promotion is worth it.

Gerrard showed he was ready to spend a dime and a half from last season and confirmed that the biggest responsibilities of McGinn, Amy Martinez and Ashley Young would shift to the role of deputy captain.
“Of course I had to talk to Tyrone Mings and explain to him why I made this decision,” Gerard said.
More importantly, the lack of captain responsibility allows Tyrone to focus more on his game, which I think can only benefit him and his team.
Min has two years left on his contract at Villa Park and faces a struggle to keep an automatic starter. In the summer, Diego Carlos will join Min, Ezri Konsa and Calum Chambers in central defence.
For his part, Gerard explained the ideas behind McGinn’s new role, adding that “John showed he was ready for captain by combining performance on the pitch with attitude and training.”
He is a popular member of the locker room who sets high standards and expectations for himself.
“Amy is a respected senior member of the team and Ashley Young’s experience speaks for itself. She is a great ambassador for the first team.”
