The English team gymnast won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games team final, thanks in part to Joe Fraser, who battled a broken leg to compete in Birmingham.

The 23-year-old was also forced to withdraw from the vault and floor machine due to a flare-up of appendicitis while preparing for the tournament. That is, he could not compete for any title.

He also worked in other areas, but surpassed pommel horse points and horizontal bars, impressing rings and parallel bars.

Fraser’s performance was excellent, with Jake German, Court Nita Rock, Journey Regini Moran and James Hall also winning.

“I took the opportunity to get back on track. I’m proud of myself,” Fraser said.

“I’m heavy. Many times I thought it was unintentional, but I literally thought about playing in front of the crowd at my house on the road I live on, so I wanted to push myself and make it bigger.”

He added, “I faced a lot of adversity. Before the horizontal bar, my coach told me, ‘I believe in you,’ and that was exactly what he needed.

“By arranging the dissolution, everything came true. Despite being injured, I was proud of myself for escaping the landing.
