Sakkari: “You will see a different Maria than the last three months”

When you come from a country, especially in tennis, with the wrong mentality… I was always the player that because my mother was very famous back then in my home country, I always heard that I would never make it. For me it was very difficult to manage that and as I mentioned before, sometimes I didn’t enjoy being on tour, playing every week. Then you pause and realize all you’ve accomplished.

Having my mother by my side and constantly reminding me how many people love you, how many people are proud of you and that you should realize what you have achieved. It takes time for everyone and I think it took time with me too, but I feel like I’m back on the right path, I’m myself and I think you’ll see a different Maria in the next 3 months.”
