In an important addition to the roster of the men’s volleyball team, ahead of the new season, Olympiacos announced the signing of experienced Italian passer Dragan Travica.

The relevant announcement in detail:
“OLYMPIAN S.F.P. announces the start of his collaboration with Dragan Travica. The international Italian passer (born 28/8/1986, height 2.00m) signed his new contract and joins the roster of the club’s Men’s Volleyball team.
In the last two years (2020-22), Dragan Travica played in the top Italian league, with Perugia, with whom he won a Cup (2021-22) and a Super Cup (2020-21). In Italy, he has worn the jerseys of Padua, Modena, Lube, Monza, Sparkling Milano, Crema, Falconara and Treviso, while he has also played in Turkey (Halkbank), Russia (Belogorie Belgorod) and Iran (Sardari Urmia). Under his belt, he has, among others, a Champions League, a Challenge Cup, a World Club Championship, as well as championships in Italy and Turkey.
Dragan Travica has been competing in the Italian Men’s National Team since 2007, with which he won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, two silvers at the European Championship (2011, 2013) and two bronzes at the World League (2013, 2014).
In 2011, with the Italian National Team, Dragan Travica emerged as the top passer in the European Championship.
Dragan Travitsa’s statement on olympiacossfp.gr:
“I am very happy to become a member of Olympiakos. I am excited to be part of a club with so many sports, which are at the highest level. This is unique, it motivates me. It’s a challenge for me, to play in a league I’ve never played. My father (s.s. Ljubo Travica) was a coach here for two years in the past and he has talked to me about the league. Greece is an incredible country, just as Athens is an excellent city. I have vacationed in Greece and I remember many beautiful things, that’s why I am happy to live here. I will enjoy it. It’s a challenge for me, because Olympiacos is a club that always wants to star, to achieve its goals, to be at the top every year. We will fight to win all competitions, that is the best for an athlete, to always play for the win. It won’t be easy, the league has good teams, but that’s the sport. We have to work a lot at the beginning, we are a new team. I am proud to meet our fans, I know the atmosphere they create in the stadium! I’m a player who gives everything on the pitch and it’s incredible to play in such an atmosphere.”
