Greek participation in the Feeder table tennis tournaments in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria

by

The National Men’s and Women’s Table Tennis Teams returned on Sunday from the training camps in Hungary and the Czech Republic respectively and will have their last training sessions until Thursday at SEF, ahead of the European Championships in Munich (13-21/08).

Two more of our representative groups, also in the big category, are preparing for the Balkan Men’s-Women’s Championship of Bosnia/Herzegovina, 23-27/08, and it has just been announced that at the end of the month Greece will participate in two international individual tournaments of the World Table Tennis Feeder category.

Three athletes will participate in the WTT Feeder Olomouc in the Czech Republic, which takes place August 23-28, while four athletes and one athlete will take part in the WTT Feeder Panagyurishte in Bulgaria, which is set for August 30-September 4.

For another international athlete in the meantime, Ioanna Gerasimatou, who is on the mission for the upcoming Balkan Championship, it became known that in the new year she will be in two foreign teams, alongside her matches in the Greek A1.

The three gymnasts who will represent our country in a few days in the European Individual Championships, namely Katerina Toliou, Elisavet Terpou and Konstantina Paridis, have announced their participation in Olomouc. Immediately after the top event in Munich, they will give strong competitive tests at the “OMEGA Sport Center” in the Czech city.

Toliou will be directly on the scoreboard, i.e. at number 181 of the current world ranking list, while Terpou and Paridis will compete in the qualifiers. There is no mention of a Greek presence in the doubles events on the WTT website.

At the WTT Feeder in Bulgaria, in the city of Panagyurishte, which is 145 kilometers from Sofia, Yannis Sgouropoulos, George Konstantinopoulos, Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, Tasos Riniotis and Elisavet Terpou will compete. The top three will have competed earlier in the European Championships in Munich, while Riniotis, the 2013 European runner-up in the men’s team, will be making his long-awaited return to an international tournament.

The matches will take place at the “Arena Asarel”, which also includes the doubles, where the Greek delegation is expected to be present.

IN FRANCE AND BULGARIA OR GERASIMATOU

Ioanna Gerasimatou continues her presence in the National categories of France, but at the same time she will try a new experience in Bulgaria. The young left-handed champion renewed for the 2022-2023 season with France’s Ermont 2, based in Paris, and also signed a one-year deal with Varna-based Bulgarian first division team Komfort.

In France, Gerasimato’s team won last season promotion to National 1, but the president of the administration decided to compete again in N2. Gerasimatou made an agreement to participate for all weekends.

Also, she will have a strong presence in the Bulgarian league with a teammate in Komfort, the international Bulgarian, Maria Yovkova, with whom she will be together this year in the Greek A1 with AEK.
