Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Casemiro is leaving the club to face a new challenge.

The midfielder is close to a move to Manchester United on a £60m deal, reportedly on a four-year deal with the Red Devils.

“Negotiations are ongoing, but he has decided to leave Real.

A proposed deal with United would mean that Eric ten Hug would finally sign the midfielder after pursuing Frankie de Jong from Barcelona over the summer.

Casemiro is said to have a medical on Friday but would be ruled out for Monday night’s game against Liverpool, even if United complete his contract today or at the weekend.

New signing deals must be completed by 12:00 pm on the business day prior to their appearance in the following game week.

The Red Devils are also on the market for forwards and right backs before the transfer window closes on September 1.

PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo has been linked to Anthony Ajax, with an €80m offer for the latter rejected earlier this week.
