Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns transfer from Chelsea

According to German reports, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang initially agreed to join Chelsea from Barcelona.

Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to sign a new striker after the departure of Romelu Lukaku earlier this summer and a poor start to the new Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are desperate for salary cuts and have been unable to sign Jules Conde on a €55m (£46.4m) summer deal due to ongoing financial difficulties.

Barca wanted Frenkie de Jong out but Aubameyang, who joined the club in February, appears close to expulsion.

Last month it was reported that despite overtures from Chelsea, Aubameyang intends to stay at Barcelona and is not interested in leaving the Camp Nou this summer.

However, according to Sky Germany, Chelsea’s deal with Barcelona is now over after Aubameyang changed his mind and was open to a move to Stamford Bridge.

The report claims that Thomas Tuchel was the driving force behind Chelsea’s move to sign Aubameyang and that “all parties are optimistic” about the completion of the transfer.

Tuchel remains on good terms with Aubameyang after his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea, meanwhile, tried to sign Aubameyang during Frank Lampard’s government in January 2020, but the 33-year-old’s salary demands delayed this.

Chelsea will pay around €20m to buy Aubameyang from Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona manager Xavi said last week that Barcelona were willing to sell Aubameyang to sign Khunde.
