Victory at… idling over Germany for the Women’s National Polo!

by

Back to winning ways today for Greece, after losing to the Netherlands, in the “battle” for first place in the first group of the European women’s polo championship in Split.

With our National Team destroying Germany 13-3, for the 4th matchday of the tournament, reaching its third victory in the competition.

Now there remains the match against Croatia, with the players of Alexia Kamenos having their eyes on the quarter-finals, where they will probably pass as second!

The national team appeared very relaxed at the start of the game and it took more than four minutes to open the scoring against Patras. The defense worked well, with successive steals, which the Greek team did not take advantage of to score on the counterattack and escape.

The solution was provided by the fundamentalists, and especially Maria Myriokephalitaki, who entered the match in the second period and scored twice in the first minute. The Greek team escaped 8-1, but at the end of the half the Germans found two goals on quick attacks and reduced it to 8-3.

In the last two eight minutes, the players of Alexia Kammenou kept their goal inviolable, but their offensive performance certainly troubled the federal coach. It is typical that the national team missed two penalties (Tricha and V. Pleuritou), had 0/4 in the player above and a total of only 31% in shots (13/42).

The eight minutes: 0-2, 3-6, 0-3, 0-2.

Germany: Voseberg (1), Petiki, Poltz, Dijke, Ludwig, Rick, Fry (1), Tandai, Kielstra, Stuwe, Krukenberg.

Hellas: E. Pleuritou, Elliniadis (1), Santa (2), Tricha (1), Xenaki (1), Ninou (1), Patra (1), Siouti, V. Pleuritou (2), Giannopoulou, Myriokephalitaki (4) .

The group score:

Holland 9

Greece 9

Croatia 6

Hungary 3

Germany 3

Romania 0

The next matchday:

11.00 Hungary – Romania

18.30 Greece – Croatia

21.30 Germany – Netherlands
