Jürgen Klopp has praised Jordan Pickford after the Everton goalkeeper denied Liverpool scoring a point against the Toffees in the Merseyside derby.
Director Klopp said:
“I think I hit the post three times and Pickford made an amazing save.
Easy and free movement is not possible in this game. You have to dig deep, we did. A 0-0 draw sounds strange, but it’s true.
“It’s been a very tight week for us. It ended in a very difficult game.” [against Newcastle on Wednesday]Then a few days later you play here.
“If you open it on purpose, things can look different. I don’t know how many derbies I’ve played, quite a few, but it’s always tough here.”
Frank Lampard also praised Pickford after the Merseyside derby, saying: This is one of the best 0-0 draws I’ve ever seen.
“Pickford made a great save. You need a goalkeeper to be there in a game like that. I have two goalkeepers for my class.
I have a lot of confidence in Jordan. He is a great goalkeeper and we are lucky to have a player with his ability.
“It was a real match between two teams. Can’t blame the players and the spirit. We played well and we are improving.
“Say the same. We are not going to stay in the team we want to be.
“We’re trying to be strong. We need to bring our staff in and work out in training camp. I feel like those wins are coming.”
“We feel like we deserve more, but maybe not today.” Fans can see the team go all out, fighting for the badge. It makes me proud. “
