Barry Hahn admires the talent of Ronnie O’Sullivan, who is the best pool player in the history of the country.
Over the years, Hahn and O’Sullivan, former presidents of the World Snooker Tour and now presidents of the World Snooker Tour, have clashed repeatedly because they weren’t impressed with what the stars of the sport were saying or doing.
O’Sullivan has criticized the way snooker has been run for years, threatening his own breakup tour from WST in what Hahn described as “absolutely zero chance” and a “crazy idea”.
The veteran sports promoter doesn’t mind that he and Ronnie aren’t always on the same page, but he’s sure he’s right and knows better than the players when it comes to running the sport.
Speaking to Orla Chenaw and Greg Rutherford on Eurosport’s The Breakdown podcast series, Hahn said: We haven’t seen much. Because he has his own ideas. Of course they are wrong.
‘But it’s okay. I have an idea for brain surgery, but I don’t recommend surgery.
Hahn and O’Sullivan may disagree on nothing, or disagree at all, but the president will only praise the number one player in the world.
In fact, he also has a lot of respect for the way Ronnie lives his life the way he does.
“I think he’s a great talent. I look up to anyone who has that ability,” the 74-year-old said.
“I know him, his mother, his father, the ups and downs of the family. When I was 16, I turned professional.
“I have a lot of time for my kids. But Ronnie, whatever you call him, is one of those once-in-a-century, once-in-a-generation talents.
He is the best pool player to ever walk a mile on the course.
“I like the fact that he lives his life and does what he wants. Masu-Literally lives a life doing what he wants.
