“What was done today is a relief, but São Paulo deserves much more than spending a year like 2021. I have no plans for 2022,” stated Ceni, during a press conference at Morumbi. “We have three more days here yet, and 2022 will be ahead.”

With 48 points added, the tricolor team, six times champion of the Brazilian, ran the risk of suffering its first relegation.

“It’s one thing for you to fall, it’s another thing to be demoted with the team you’ve left your whole life working on. It’s different when you have a bond. I knew about the difficult situation, I didn’t imagine it was so complicated, but I just accepted come because it was São Paulo. I feel like it was my home. It’s not the place where São Paulo should be,” said Ceni, who ended last season as Brazilian champion with Flamengo.

The coach returned to São Paulo on October 13th to replace Argentine Hernán Crespo. With the predecessor, the tricolor team won the São Paulo Championship after fasting for nine years, but went into crisis at the Nacional.
