Opinion – Walter Casagrande Jr.: The match continues in the second round, and the game will be dirty

by

These elections have shown a very dark side of our society.

Even still under the heat of the results, exhausted by the long journey of counting on Sunday night, we need to make some observations: we are going through the most difficult moment since the redemocratization of Brazil.

The number of people elected for lying, for the destruction of the Amazon, for prejudice, for omission in the purchase of vaccines was unbelievable.

We were a little deluded by the polls, creating a narrative of a possible first-round victory.

But, due to the Bolsonarista force, which has the machine in hand, we may have been a little naive.

I have my thoughts and my ideals and, even though I think we have put ourselves in a much worse situation than the one we were in before the elections, I have a lot of respect for the results of the polls.

But you cannot accept the attacks that people in the Northeast are receiving for not voting for Jair Bolsonaro.

These people are abominable, cruel and use the fragility of a suffering people to hurt them in the soul.

At first, I was disappointed, but I soon understood that it would be difficult, because Jair Bolsonaro plays dirty and, therefore, does not lose easily.

The problem is that, now, the game will be more aggressive, with strong attacks through lies, fake news.

By distorting information, and by the number of votes that the extreme right had, I see that the game will be very complicated.

Let’s see which way the voters of Ciro Gomes and Simone Tebet will go, because their choices will be decisive for the future of the country.

We need to strengthen our democracy, and I hope these people understand that.

The destruction of the values and principles of our society has a name and a number.

But I want to highlight the victory of Célia Xakriabá for federal deputy for Minas Gerais. A strong indigenous leadership, a companion in the struggle, a friend. I have no doubt of her strength.

I was very happy for her and also for Sônia Guajajara, who was elected federal deputy for São Paulo. Along with Celia, she shows the strength of the headdress bench.

They are people who will fight, this time from within politics, for the protection of our forest, our forest, and for the native peoples.

Sônia is also a great leader and, like Célia, is highly respected around the world. I trust them a lot.

The match continues in the second round, but now the play is head to head, face to face, eye to eye, between democracy and fascism.

The re-election candidate plays dirty, using the machine in his favor, with lies as the flagship of his campaign.

Many of your destructive and prejudiced comrades were elected, a victory for you. The “army” against Brazil will be in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

The undecided will have 28 days to realize that democracy will collapse once and for all if Jair Bolsonaro wins.

What do you feel for Brazil?

Love or hate?

There are only these two choices:

13 is love.

22 is hate.
