by

An unexpected but pleasant surprise was waiting for him Alexis Tsipras, on the sidelines of his visit to Igoumenitsa, as part of his tour in Epirus.

Specifically, the president of SYRIZA had the opportunity to meet with the former ace and coach of Panathinaikos and current coach of Thesprotos, Juan Ramon Rocha.

As is well known, the latter had expressed in an interview he had given to the newspaper “Strut” of Argentina his support in the person of the former Prime Minister of Greece.

While Tsipras did not miss the opportunity and “uploaded” a relevant video on his official Facebook account, writing at the same time:

“During my tour in Epirus, I had an unexpected meeting with the old ace and former coach of Panathinaikos, Juan Ramon Rocha, who is now the coach of Thesprotos.

One of my favorite Panathinaikos footballers – I confessed to him that I had a photo of him over my bed. I remembered the first time I went, a small child then, to the stadium on the Avenue to watch my favorite team against Panionios, with Rotsas being against Saravakos.

With H.R. Rocha, we talked about the problems faced by football and especially the teams of the province, as well as about Panathinaikos of the 80’s, about the phenomenon of Lionel Messi but also about the persecution of the Left in Videla’s Argentina. “Juan Ramon Rocha told me how he was left out of the Argentina national team that won the 1978 World Cup because of his leftist views.”
