Ferrari equipment gets stuck in undemocratic blockade in Campinas (SP)

Ferrari fans are used to seeing the red car go by very quickly. But this time there was a forced and unexpected stop of equipment in the face of coup protests by bolsonaristas and truck drivers.

Soon after leaving Viracopos airport, in Campinas (93 km from São Paulo), on the morning of this Tuesday (1st), at least four trucks with Ferrari and Formula 1 equipment stopped in the anti-democratic protests that spread across the highways. Brazilians, after the victory of electoral president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) over Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The equipment of the Maranello team arrived in the country for the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix after the dispute in the Mexico stage last weekend. And it was only released on the Santos Dumont highway, shortly after leaving the airport, after intervention by the Military Highway Police, according to the press office of the Brazilian race.

The trucks entered Interlagos shortly before noon, also according to the press office.

When questioned, the Military Highway Police did not respond until the publication of this report on how they managed to release the Ferrari trucks.

The GP Brazil takes place between the 11th and 13th of November, at the Interlagos circuit, in the south of São Paulo.

The first plane with F1 equipment landed in Viracopos at 11:27 pm on Monday. The second flight landed at 4:20 am on Tuesday.

The next Formula 1 train heading to Interlagos is scheduled for 10pm this Tuesday.

In all, approximately 700 tons will be transported by eight Boeing aircraft from Mexico to the Campinas airport, according to information from Viracopos.

According to CCR AutoBan, the concessionaire that manages the Anhanguera and Bandeirantes highways, at 4:30 pm this Tuesday there were at least three points of blockages on the two roads, between Campinas and São Paulo, in the capital and interior directions.

According to the Military Police, around 5 pm there were 21 state highways interdicted in São Paulo and another 131 partially with interdictions.

Since Monday (31), because of the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), supporters of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), including truck drivers, have been blocking or crowding roads in states and the Federal District, according to the PRF. Protesters call for a coup.
