What if Lionel Messi left? What if Barcelona is “at the bottom”? La Liga continues to “sell”, as evidenced by the new agreement it made for the concession of its television rights;
Specifically, as announced today by the Organizing Authority of the two professional leagues of Spanish football, it reached an agreement on the next five years with Movistar and DAZN, which offered it… 4.95 billion euros!
An amount which, as one can easily understand, constitutes record for the Spanish league, with the last La Liga contract with Telefonica, signed in 2018, being three years and amounting to 2.940 billion euros.
The deal came just 24 hours after a € 1.994 billion investment was approved by private equity fund CVC Capital Partners, although four teams – including Barcelona and Real Madrid – did not vote in favor.
Informative note: #LaLiga Get a historic TV sale for clubs and Spanish soccer fans.
