It was Monday, 13, when news came of the death of the indigenous warrior Mauro Ailton dos Santos, Werá, a Guarani from the Boa Vista village of Ubatuba. In the WhatsApp message, the female leader from the neighboring tribe communicated the match with sadness.

Despite words in Portuguese and a cold and undecipherable means of communication, it was possible to feel the pain over the death of the battle partner. Battle yes. Lately fights were fought and Ailton fought as a warrior against pathetic setbacks, such as the bill that provided for changes in the time frame.
It was a storm that took Werá. The wind also took fear wherever it went. He also took Ailton from here. Who knows where.
I waited the three days of prayer, still dizzy to believe that it was the same Ailton dos Santos that the news was about.
After all, it wouldn’t be true, that the native who died from the shock of a wire knocked to the ground, such a silly death, was Ailton, the same person who commanded with vigor and sweetness one of the most beautiful presentations I watched this year.
There is certainly a bigger plan. Here, there will be pain and longing…
