by

Panathinaikos showed two faces against the Paphos and after finding themselves behind in the first half, managed to equalize at 2-2 in his second friendly on Cypriot soil.

Verbic was the absolute protagonist for Ivan Jovanovic’s team, equalizing with a penalty, while young Simeonidis, Kyriopoulos and Kryparakos with the latter scoring his maiden goal with the first team to equalize for the ‘cloverleaf’.

In the coach’s mind

Ivan Jovanovic lined up Panathinaikos with several changes compared to the friendly against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Lodingin was in goal, with Vaiannidis and Huancar at the ends of the defense and Pougoura and Sarlia at the stoppers. Ruben Perez and Simeonidis in the axis, Bernard in front of them in a free role, Palacios on the left wing, Xavier on the right and Sporar at the top of the attack.

The match

Panathinaikos was the one who had the “lion’s share” in the first, recognizable minutes of the match, moving the ball around with the efforts of the “greens” going through the legs of Ruben and Bernard. In the 8th minute, Paphos threatened first with Hestad shooting and the ball going just wide. A minute later the Norwegian again came close to the goal with Lodingin making a save and Vaiannidis clearing for a corner for the Cypriot team.

The “greens” were the ones who in the 12th minute reached a breath from 1-0 with Juancar to unleash a “lightning bolt” and send the ball to beam of Oyer, while Vagiannidis shot wide in the throw-in.

In the 24th minute, Bendancor threatened the Panathinaikos goal again, but the Spaniard’s shot went wide. The “greens” continued to circulate the ball without, however, making it difficult for the Cypriot team as the minutes rolled by without anything special.

It was Paphos who opened the scoring in the 39th minute. THE Goofy he found himself alone in the semicircle of the large area and unleashed a “lightning bolt” while doing so 1-0 for the hosts with a stunning goal. As if that wasn’t enough for Ivan Jovanovic’s team, Paphos found a second goal just before the end of the first half. Hestad fed him Bedancourtwho did the control and with perfect execution in the movement made it 2-0 which was also the score for the first half.

In the second half, the coach of Panathinaikos made changes with Kotsiras, Sanchez and Tsokai replacing Palasios, Huancar, Simeonidis. These moves from the bench helped Panathinaikos quite a bit who missed their first chance in the 55th minute.

Sanchez crossed from the left, Sporar moved into the area, headed home with Oyer striking for a corner. Two minutes later, Paphos approached the Panathinaikos area with claims, with Bedancourt shooting and Sarlia cutting with projection.

In the 64th minute, Verbic, who had just entered the match, headed in Bernard’s cross, but sent the ball wide. Panathinaikos then intensified its pressure and managed to win a penalty in the 76th minute with Verbich who was overthrown by Georgiou. The Slovenian made no mistake from the white bullet and reduced to 2-1.

Indeed, the “greens” leveled the match two minutes later with the 19-year-old Christos Kryparakos to take the ball from Verbic in the area and place perfectly in the closed corner for 2-2 which was also the final score.
