Admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital, in the west zone of São Paulo, to be treated for colon cancer and a respiratory infection, Pelé says he will watch Brazil’s game against South Korea, this Monday (5), for the round of 16 final of the World Cup in Qatar.
The message posted on social media accompanies a photo from the 1958 World Cup, when he and midfielder Zito (1932-2015) walk down a street in Sweden.
“In 1958, I walked the streets thinking about fulfilling the promise I made to my father. I know that today many have made similar promises and are also going in search of their first World Cup. I will watch the game from the hospital and I will be rooting for each one. of you. Good luck!”, says the message.
In the game against Serbia, on the 28th, the Rei do Futebol profile on Twitter also published a message, at halftime, saying that he believed in Brazil’s victory.
In an interview with “Fantástico”, on TV Globo, aired this Sunday night (4), Kely and Flávia, Pelé’s daughters, showed optimism that their father will return home after improving from the respiratory infection. They denied that the King of Football is in palliative care.
“I don’t like to say that the cancer treatment isn’t working. It already did, it’s working. Just him being here, breathing, it’s already working super well”, said Flávia.
“He didn’t have the total remission of the colon cancer. It’s very unfair to say that he’s terminal, in palliative treatment. It’s not that, believe us.”
