If it maintains its record in clashes with Croatia, the Brazilian team has a good chance of qualifying for the semifinals of the Qatar Cup.
Brazilians and Croatians have only played four times (because the European country has only existed since 1991), and the national team has never lost. Three wins and one draw.
Two of these meetings took place in World Cups, both in the team’s debut matches, in 2006 and in 2014.
In the World Cup in Germany, 16 years ago, in a very difficult game in Berlin, the team coached by Carlos Alberto Parreira triumphed thanks to a solitary goal by Kaká, at the end of the first half.
In the second time that Brazil hosted a World Cup, eight years ago, the victory of the team led by Luiz Felipe Scolari was 3-1, in the comeback, in a match at the Corinthians stadium, in Itaquera (São Paulo).
Marcelo (own goal) scored for Croatia, and Neymar (twice, one from the penalty spot) and Oscar scored the goals for Brazil.
The other duels between Brazilians and Croatians took place in friendly matches.
The first in 2005, 1 to 1 in Split, Croatia. Kranjcar scored the goal for Croatia, and Ricardinho for Brazil.
The second was also the last time the teams met, already in the Tite era, in 2018, before the World Cup. With goals from Neymar and Roberto Firmino, Brazil won 2-0 at Anfield, Liverpool’s stadium, in England.
