‘From next week, we’ll talk’, says Luis Enrique about future ahead of Spain

by

“From next week, calmly, when the ‘president’ (Luis Rubiales) sees fit, let’s talk about what can really matter in the future, what matters to me now, because we have to assimilate this disappointment and deal with it from the best possible way”, said the Spanish coach Luis Enrique about his future after the elimination to Morocco on penalties, this Tuesday (6).

“They [marroquinos] they played their game, it went well for them, they were better than us at penalty kicks. They are to be congratulated. Young people have to learn to lose too, regardless of whether they deserve it or not”, analyzed the coach on Spanish public television.

“Football is a wonderful sport, exciting for any fan, but with a clear connotation that a team can win without attacking. Morocco has already attacked and created danger, but I think we completely dominated the game.”

“Fate was capricious in the last play of Pablo Sarabia, who hit the post, but the penalties cost us”, lamented Luis Enrique, recalling the clearest chance the team had in the 120 minutes of play.

“I chose the first three takers, who were the ones I considered the most specialists on the field, but we didn’t even get to the fourth”, intoned the coach’s ‘mea culpa’, who also had praise for the great hero of Morocco.

“Bono is a spectacular goalkeeper on penalties, with a very high percentage of hits on the side where the penalty kicks kick, and today he was superb”.

“Unfortunately, when you are at a World Cup of this type, you always expect the other teams, theoretically favourites, to fail,” explained Luis Enrique. “I feel very sorry for the fans because they have transmitted to me over these 23 days the support and the dream they had to bring joy”, he concluded.
