Croatian defender points to favorite Brazil and says he does not see disrespect in dance

by

Lovren is not among those who express discomfort with the dances that have become recurrent in the celebration of Brazil’s goals. The Croatia defender, who will face the national team this Friday (9), in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, said he did not see a problem with the choreography.

“Dancing after a goal? They can do what they want, I don’t see any disrespect in that. Everything has its limit, but I know how Brazilians breathe and I don’t see anything negative about it”, said the Zenit defender, during the press conference this Wednesday (7).

Lovren declared that Brazil are favorites for the duel, but pointed out that this will have to be proved on the pitch.

“Brazil are the favourites, they have fantastic players, they literally have two great teams. They are definitely the favourites. We have no problem with that. We value and respect everyone and we will prove it on the pitch”, he said.

The experienced 33-year-old defender has teamed up with several Brazilians throughout his career, having spent several seasons at Lyon and Livepool. Today at Zenit, he is a colleague of Gustavo Mantuan, Malcom, Wendel and Claudinho.

“I have many Brazilian friends who are former and current teammates. I spoke to some of them, except the ones we are playing on Friday. They wished me good luck, they are nice people and my friends. I hope we get along well even after the game.”

Midfielder Kovacic was another one who pointed the Brazilian team as favorites in the match. “Brazil, in my opinion, is always the favorite for the title, but there are many top teams and more favorites in Qatar. We are focused on our game, we want to show ourselves in the best way.”

For the Chelsea player, Croatia must look for a goal early on to take control of the game.

“We can’t retreat, we have to try to score an early goal, which would help us a lot. So we would be dangerous. Brazil is a top team, it’s easy to say that the game against France should be repeated, but this game for sure it’s the way to play”, said Kovacic, referring to the game against France in the League of Nations, in June this year, when Croatia won by 1-0.
