Karim Benzema, forced to pull out of the Qatar Cup due to injury on the eve of France’s first game, will return to training with Real Madrid this Saturday (10), coach Carlo Ancelotti announced, published Corriere dello Sport.

Asked by the Italian newspaper about the state of health of this year’s Ballon d’Or winner, Ancelotti replied with a smile: “He’ll be back on Saturday. We’ll put him back [para treinar]🇧🇷

On that day, Les Bleus (Blues) will play the quarterfinals of the Cup against England.

The 34-year-old striker left his team’s base on 19 November after suffering a leg injury in training. His recovery period was assessed at three weeks by the French Football Federation.

After French coach Didier Deschamps ruled out his replacement in the French squad, the Real striker remains on the team’s official list for the Qatari Cup.

Consulted by the AFP, Fifa said that, if France is champion, each player will be awarded a medal and Benzema will be entitled to one of them, but the decision to consider him champion will be up to the delegation.

The disappointment caused by the forced departure was a heavy blow for the striker, as the 2021/22 season was one of the best of his career.

With 44 goals in 46 appearances for the club, he led Real to their 35th La Liga title and 14th Champions League title.
