In a melancholy mood, the Brazilian team leaves the hotel in Doha

A few hotel employees, around 60 media professionals, no fans. Not even the sun showed up. The temperature was around 21°. It was a little windy.

In a very different scenario from the warm welcome they received when they arrived in Qatar, the Brazilian team left the Westin Doha Hotel & SPA this Saturday morning (10) in a melancholy mood after falling in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, with defeat on penalties against Croatia, on Friday (9).

At 11:40 am Doha time (5:40 am Brasília time), the bus with the Brazilian delegation left the hotel towards the airport.

Not all athletes were with the group. The CBF (Brazilian Confederation of Brazil) did not release the names, but some left Qatar at dawn, on private flights, including Vinicius Junior, Alisson, Alex Sandro, Bruno Guimarães, Éder Militão and Gabriel Martinelli.

The chartered flight with the Brazilians is scheduled to take off at 12:50 pm local time and a scheduled stopover in London, England, where some athletes should disembark.

With the fall in the World Cup in Qatar, Brazil is already starting the cycle for the next World Cup, in 2026, without a coach. Shortly after the defeat to the Croatians, Tite confirmed what he had already announced before the tournament and he will no longer continue at the helm of the national team.

Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), is not very fond of the possibility of putting a foreigner in charge of the Brazilian team. But it might be the way.

At the moment, the top hat has no idea who he will replace the coach who led the country in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. He does not see many options among Brazilians that he considers worthy of the position. That’s why he can make room for a foreigner.
