Spanish newspaper says Ancelotti is far from the Brazilian national team

The chances of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, 63, taking charge of the Brazilian national team in 2023 are practically nil. At least that’s what the Spanish newspaper Marca says.

According to the newspaper, the coach is “very happy” at Real Madrid and does not consider any other scenario than not fulfilling his contract with the merengue team, which ends in June 2024.

“The madridista coach does not contemplate any other possible scenario than fulfilling his contract with Real Madrid and, if necessary, extending it”, says the newspaper.

Ancelotti would be the first on the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) list for the vacancy left by Tite, who left the command of the Brazilian national team after the elimination in the World Cup in Qatar — the coach had already announced in February that he would leave, regardless of the World Cup result.

According to UOL Esporte, Ancelotti was consulted by the CBF in October this year for the position in the Brazilian national team and he would agree to talk at the end of the European season, in June 2023.

But, according to the Spanish newspaper, “neither Real Madrid is thinking of a possible goodbye to the coach nor is the coach thinking of leaving before the end of the contract”.

The CBF released a note this Monday (12) stating that the choice of the new coach will be made in January 2023, and that President Ednaldo Rodrigues will handle the entire process.

“No CBF leader or employee is authorized to speak about the future of the selection”, says Rodrigues, in a note.
