PAOK beat Brno with an epic upset!

PAOK took the qualifying lead with an epic upset, bending over 3-2 sets Brno, in the first match for the “32” of the CEV Cup.

The “two-headed guy from the north” found himself losing with a 2-0 set, but from then on he was stormy and reached the big upset.

In the rematch next Wednesday (21/12 – 19:00) PAOK wants to win to qualify, while in case of a 3-2 set loss, the match will be decided in the golden set.

In the first set, PAOK escaped quickly with 7-3, but Brno equalized at 13-13. With a run of nine points he escaped to 22-14 and made the set 1-0 at 25-14. Brno took the second set with similar ease, which gradually began to build a difference that reached +8 (11-19) and ended the set with 25-15.

The match caught fire in the third set. PAOK led 6-3, with the visiting team reducing to 7-6 and maintaining a difference of one or two points until 21-20. PAOK escaped to +3(23-20) and kept the difference, reducing to 2-1 set with 25-22.

Having, now, psychology on their side, the Thessalonians took a walk in the fourth set and equalized in 2-2 sets with 25-10, sending the match to the tie break. In the decisive fifth set they maintained control throughout and celebrated winning the match 15-11.
