Top scorer of the Cup and scorer of three goals in the final, Kylian Mbappé broke the silence after the defeat to Argentina in this Sunday’s decision, on penalties (4-2), after a 3-3 draw in the 120 minutes.

“Nous reviendrons” (“we will return”, in the French translation), posted the Paris Saint-Germain striker on his social networks this Monday. The message was accompanied by a photo of Mbappé with his head down, still looking on the lawn of the Lusail stadium at the Golden Boot he received for being the competition’s top scorer, with 8 goals.

In a few hours, the post had already received more than 10.5 million likes, including celebrities such as his friend Hakimi, from the Moroccan national team, Marcus Thuram, who entered the game during the final, Pelé and Naomi Campbell.

During the Cup, Mbappé was fined more than once for refusing to participate in mandatory interviews. Despite the collective defeat, the individual balance was favorable for the French number 10.

He became the top scorer in a Cup since Ronaldo, for Brazil, in 2002. Added to the goal against Croatia, in the 2018 title, Mbappé became the top scorer in the finals, with 4 goals. He also equaled the mark of the Englishman Geoff Hurst, who scored 3 times in the 1966 decision, won by England against Germany (4 to 2).

Still in the individual awards, the striker only lost the Golden Ball, which was with Messi, an award given to the best player in the competition. Mbappé won the Silver Ball and Croatia’s Modric won the Bronze Ball.
