Kely Nascimento published on Instagram, on Friday night (23), a photo hugging her father, Pelé (82), at Albert Einstein Hospital, where the King of Football has been hospitalized since November 29.
In the caption, Kely wrote: “We are still here, in the fight and in the faith. One more night together”.
The image shows Pelé in bed in one of the hospital rooms. The granddaughter, Sophia Nascimento, daughter of former goalkeeper Edinho, also appears in the background.
The family accompanies Pelé to the hospital, where he was admitted to treat colon cancer. Last Wednesday (21), according to a medical bulletin released to the press, there was a worsening of the clinical picture.
The King no longer responds to chemotherapy and is under palliative care, with comfort measures to relieve pain and shortness of breath.
Kely, 55 years old, who lives in the United States, arrived in Brazil on December 12 to accompany her father. This week, Pelé’s daughter reported, on social media, that her father will have the family company for Christmas. In the post, she was with her sister, Flávia.
The son, Edinho, coach of Londrina and heir of the former star, also spoke out. At a press conference on Thursday (22), he lamented the fact that he was not accompanying his father to the hospital.
“I would like to be there anyway, but I’m committed to my mission here too. I’m not a doctor, I couldn’t really help much. The more success I get here, in my career, that brings joy to him there too. I’m at peace with that. But, always with the thought there. Sometimes I disconnect a little and go to a corner to reflect, pray. It’s a natural issue, but very difficult, that everyone eventually passes”.
