Técnico Tite is stolen during a walk in Rio

Coach Tite was stolen while walking with his wife in Barra da Tijuca, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, at the beginning of last week.

The theft was reported by columnist Ancelmo Gois, this Saturday (24), and confirmed by the coach’s advisory.

“A person passing by on a bicycle stole the chain he was wearing when he was walking with his wife. A person close to him noticed, tried, but was unable to intercept him. Tite thanked him and continued on his way,” he said in a statement. The advisory denied that the thief had made any comment about the selection at the time of the theft.

Tite did not file a police report, which was confirmed by the Civil and Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, who did not identify any records of the case.

The coach is taking a rest period with his family before deciding his future in 2023. On the last 9th, when Brazil was eliminated from the Cup by Croatia on penalties, he confirmed his departure from the command of the selection.

“A painful defeat, but at peace with myself. End of cycle,” he said, at a press conference after the game at the Education City stadium in Al Rayyan, close to Doha, the country’s capital.

The coach declared that the entire team was responsible for the defeat and that there is no main player who can be blamed. “Don’t make sport a hero or villain, because there isn’t one,” he said.

Tite had already said that this World Cup was his last championship for the national team. The coach was seen as one of the favorites to win the dispute for Brazil since 2002, when Luiz Felipe Scolari won his fifth championship.
