The wake of Vasco’s greatest idol, Roberto Dinamite, who died this Sunday (8), aged 68, as a result of bowel cancer, will take place this Monday (9), in São Januário, between 10 am and 7 pm, open to the public.

The following day, Dinamite’s body will be taken in a fire truck to the Nossa Senhora de Belém Cemetery, in Duque de Caxias, his hometown. He will be buried next to his parents. The procession departs from São Januário at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The information was announced by Vasco this afternoon.

Dinamite is the top scorer in the history of Vasco (622 goals), top scorer in the Brazilian Championship (190 goals) and a member of the Brazilian national team in two World Cups (1978 and 1982).

He, who is also the best scorer in São Januário (184 goals), has a statue in the stadium, inaugurated in April 2022. Dinamite will also be honored in the name of the street in the stadium.

Dinamite played for more than twenty years at Vasco and was the one who entered the field the most for the club (1,110 games).

Vasco decreed official seven-day mourning and will keep the club’s flags at half-mast. The teams that enter the field during this period will wear the black mourning stripe on their uniforms. At the wake, the club’s rowing honor guard will be posted next to the idol’s body.
