Back to the semi-finals of the Cup for Panathinaikos! The “greens” after a sensational match, prevailed 9-8 of the General Assembly of Peristeri in Goudi and they qualified for the Final 4 of Patras, with Danilo Anjic being the “golden” scorer.
The game at first eight minutes it was quite close with Peristeri leading 1-0 with a goal by Karuntzos from six meters. Then and specifically at second eight minutes Panathinaikos pressed and reached 1-1 with Danilo Andzic taking advantage of his team’s numerical advantage. The visitors made it 2-1 immediately with Albertis equalizing for Panathinaikos at 2-2.
In the third quarter the game remained close, however Panathinaikos won a penalty, which was taken by Andzic, saved by the Peristeri goalkeeper, but the Serb after taking the rebound gave Dimitris Mazi’s team a 3-2 lead.
Peristeri drew with Bitsako 3-3 with Albertis later giving Panathinaikos a 4-3 lead. Peristeri in turn managed to take advantage of the numerical advantage from the home team’s penalty and turned the match into 5-4 with Anjic equalizing a little later at 5-5.
The derby continued in quarter of eight minutes with the Serb making it 7-5 for the “greens”. Despite this, Peristeri came back and managed to bring the match back to a draw (7-7) with goals from Chrysospathi and Karuntzou.
Deuterios made it 8-7 for Panathinaikos, but after the cross Karountzos equalized at 8-8 with a penalty. Andzic scored the qualifying goal again just before the end of the match, scoring 9-8 and ensuring the presence of Panathinaikos in the Final 4 after seven years.
Eight minutes: 0-1, 2-1, 3-3, 4-3.
