Antetokounmpo: “I didn’t feel like I was missing but that I worked a lot more”

by

THE Giannis Antetokounmpo came back stronger in competitive action, achieving a double double in impressive victory of the Milwaukee Bucks over the Detroit Pistons and after the match he made statements.

Among other things, the Greek star referred to his return – but also that of Chris Middleton – the period of his absence and how important it is that he and his teammates are healthy.

What he said in detail:

“It was really nice to see Middleton running around on the floor, communicating, playing together. I’m happy for him. He spent a long time in rehab and is trying to get back healthy. It’s a good feeling to see him back with us and playing for the team. And to help her get better.

We’re turning the ball over, we’re making good decisions and the guys are shooting the ball well. Of course, everything starts with our defense. I felt there was a huge energy in the group. It’s nice to play this way.

I didn’t feel that I missed five matches, but that I worked a lot more. When you are active you play in the game and then prepare for the next one. But when you don’t play, you have to go to practice, the next day when the team has a day off you have to go and work, do therapy, exercises in the pool, run, wake up early, play one on one, to do weights

The work being done is more. But it’s good to work and take care of your body so you can come back healthy. I wanted to be competitive, the shots came in and I felt really good. I hadn’t raced in over 10 days and I just felt really good.

It is important to be healthy. The healthier we are, the more likely we are to play good basketball later in the season. When some children are not available, then our job becomes more difficult. So I don’t look at what’s going on in the East, I just focus on my team. And the healthier we are, the better we will be. After all, we showed it in this match.

No one was missing and there were no empty seats at the counter! Some had to sit on the floor, some had to stand. I was looking at my team and saying “we are good”. We have 35 more games to build our chemistry and play better basketball when we have to. There are many threats in the team. The players have understood their role and as long as we are healthy we will have our chance.”
