In Pyrgos will be the Special Olympics Hellasin space February 2 to 3for its initiation Local Program Special Olympics Towerwhich will provide completely free of charge to people with mental disabilities in the region, training opportunities in the sports of table tennis (ping pong) and athletics and opportunities to participate in competitions and sporting events in Greece and abroad.

The Local Special Olympics Pyrgos Program will be launched with the signing Cooperation Agreement between him President of Special Olympics Hellas, Ambassador e.t. Mr. Dionysios Kodellasand his Mayor of Pyrgos, Mr. Panagiotis Antonakopoulos which will take place on Friday February 3rdat 12:30 p.m., at the Latsio Municipal Hall of Pyrgos.

The Tower is the 17th city in a row in which the Development Program is implemented of Special Olympics Hellas with his valuable help Stavros Niarchos Foundationproviding people with mental disabilities throughout Greece, the opportunity to develop, activate and integrate into society, through sports.

The main objective of the Program is to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, to develop and strengthen their skills, as well as to support their families. The Group of Special Olympics Hellas together with the Coordinator and coaches will undertake the important task of helping athletes develop their body and spirit through sport.

The cooperation of the Special Olympics Hellas Team with the Municipality of Pyrgos will be sealed at noon on Friday 3/2, with the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement.

The Special Olympics Greecebelonging to the World Movement of Special Olympics, for 34 years have continued the struggle for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in sports and society, through numerous innovative sports, educational and cultural programs. Programs that embrace Special Olympics athletes and their families, proving that nothing is impossible when there is will and strength of spirit.

One of these programs is Development Program, with a vision to create equal opportunities for people with mental disabilities, through sports, and to contribute to their smooth integration in all sectors of society. The goal of the program is to expand the training programs and competitive abilities of the athletes as well as the inclusion of even more people with mental disabilities, in 21 additional cities and in the 13 regions of Greece, with a donation of Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

In the framework of the Development Program the Special Olympics Greece have already established training programs in the regions: Arta, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kalymnos, Kastoria, Kozani, Komotini, Kos, Lefkada, Skiathos, Sparta, Syros, Trikala, Tripoli, Samos, Lamia, and now also in Pyrgos!
