The… ball in the EEC was “thrown” by AEK.
Following the announcement of the two new cases of coronavirus the “Union” requested from the Federation the postponement of the knockout quarterfinal Cup against Peristeri (26/12, 20:00).
The announcement of KAE:
«AEK BC informs that it currently has seven (7) available athletes and two (2) fevers.
With the possible spread of the virus in our team and with the aim of protecting the athletes and the members of the competition Department, the morning training was canceled.
Also, based on the above, but also the older case, and before the risk of wider dispersion, but also with a sense of responsibility towards our next opponent, team of Peristeri, AEK BC submitted today (26/12) to the EEC a request for postponement of tonight’s match of the Greek Cup.
It is obvious that in addition to the primary need to protect the health of all those involved, a key priority is the preservation of the prestige of the event, which is “doubtful” in the current health conditions, if and when the match is held properly.
