After his statement Dejan Radonic about his status in the “greens” and his own “tweeting”the American guard sent a written statement to the “Eurohoops” website, explaining from his own perspective how the situation is.
Among others, Andrews left spikes that “clover” showed no inclination to help him find another team, even saying that his refusal to sign the relevant document, he enjoys the absolute support of his teammates!
Andrew Andrews’ written statement to Eurohoops:
“There has been a lot of talk about the situation. I haven’t spoken because I know as a professional that none of this is personal, it’s business. But since my integrity as a human being is being questioned, I will speak up.
In the summer I chose Panathinaikos over other Euroleague offers for the opportunity to play in the second best league in the world. That’s how I dealt with it, I went early and left late from training every day so I could contribute to the team when I got the chance.
I understand that everything is business. When the team approached me about the Greek league document, they made it clear to me that this would not affect the situation in the Euroleague. But, before I signed, I was already off the roster.
So I informed the team that I would only sign (5th matchday of the Euroleague) if I was given the opportunity to show my skills to other teams in the Euroleague before the transfer deadline (matchday 17th). Panathinaikos refused to give me the chance to help me find another team despite my good performance when I had the chance.
I had told my teammates in advance that I would not sign the document and they supported me all the time. Regardless of the situation, I support my teammates because I want everyone to win. No one in the locker room will say otherwise.
My professionalism and work ethic speak for themselves. I see all the comments from my colleagues and the fans who expressed their support and belief that I belong in the EuroLeague, I appreciate it.”
