Huge… double and breath for Ionian! The Nicaeans left victorious (0-2) from the headquarters of Lamia, in the big derby for the 20th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League, with Michalis Grigoriou to make his debut with the… right on their bench, even against his former team.
This was the first victory – and second in this year’s championship – for the “blue and white” after November 5, when they had won with the same score again away from home, this time against OFI. Thus, even if they remained in the bottom, they went to 11 points, at -1 from the Ghoul and to -2 by Leviathanwith the battle of the eve raging for good!
Grigoriou’s side scored both of their goals in the first half, both from corner kicks. The 0-1 was made by his own goal Beharano in the 19′ and the 0-2 at 44′ by Valerian (first goal for the Greek left back since 2015). The hosts entered the match stronger, however, the first goal completely short-circuited them, with Ionikos raising his performance himself and – being perfectly set up – controlling the match without a problem until the finale.
It should be noted that towards the end of the first part, the Vergos fell to the ground because dizziness. As soon as he got up, he was immediately taken to ambulancewith the newest news being thankfully reassuring. In particular, the neurological examination to which he was submitted came out clean. At the same time, he is not dizzy, he remembers things, while he will undergo further tests at the city hospital.
Problems for the guests as well, with the Guleri (injured the medial collateral ligament) and Fatiga to become forced change and the Sheba to continue by injection, after a blow to the waist.
In… the minds of the coaches:
THE Savvas Pantelidis keep it 4-2-3-1 for the Ghoul. Saranov was in goal, with Vasilantonopoulos on the right end of the defense and Abada on the left. Tzanetopoulos and Pavlovets are twin stoppers, with Beharano and Slivka making up the corresponding pair in central midfield. Núñez is in a free role in front of them, with Martinez on the right wing and Romanić on the left. At the top is Vergos.
On the other hand, Mr Michalis Grigoriou take him down Ionic -in this first game- with a system 4-3-3. Under the posts was Houtesiotis, with Myga and Valeriano on the right and left ends of the defense, respectively, and Tsigrinski and Romao in the center of it. Triad in midfield, with Kanias in position “6” with Sakic and Fatiga in front of him. On the two “wings” of the attack, Gouleri and Seba started, with Mandzis at the top.
The match:
The criticality of the match was seen from the first minutes, with the strong markings to give and take (mainly from Lamia’s side).
Very quickly, however, the hosts took the reins. Yes, they had one stormy 7min-8min where they took six finals! Important moments, with the shots of Vasilantonopoulou (9′) and Vergo (10′) not to find a goal, that of him Romanic (12′) to accept his “stop”. Houtesiotiwhile the ball after his header Tzanetopoulou (14′) and its ending Martinez (16′), went over the crossbar.
And after the… bora passed for the Nicaeans, came the crescendo of static phases and the 0-1! Three corners in a row – from the same side and in the same way – for the visitors, with Sakic taking (also) the last one (19′) on the second beam and the Beharano in his attempt to clear the ball, he sends it into the net with a backward header.
This goal changed the picture drastically. Lamia was completely short-circuited, with the visitors starting to keep the ball and gaining yards. In the 30′ The Saranov blocked the shot launched by Flywhile at 35′ Lamia had a moment after some time, with his shot Band to pass out
At the end of the first part, everyone was worried about him Nico Vergo, who fell to the ground due to dizziness, to leave – after getting up – directly in the ambulance. Problems also for the Ionian, with Guleri to injure the medial collateral ligament and Sheba to receive a blow in the middle.
However, on the -very- positive side for the guests, of course, the fact that they found another goal before going to the locker room, again from a corner. Specifically, at 44′ The Valerian played tricks with him Shebathen brought the ball to the right, seeing it end up in the net after his charge.
The second part started with a forced change, well, with him Cabral to replace Woolery.
A second half that flowed… Turkish delight for Ionikos. The rate is particularly low, the Nicaeotes are perfectly prepared on the pitch not allowing the hosts to threaten their frames and the minutes ticking away in their favour.
The game had to enter the last quarter, so that Lamia could “shout” its presence, with two back to back moments. Initially, at 75′ after the miscalculation of Houtesiotis that was not capitalized on and after a minute with his spinning header Manusouin which the Greek goalkeeper made a great “stop”.
Nothing changed in the last minutes, with Ionikos controlling without a problem, reaching this huge “double”.
MVP: The 0-1 came from his own execution, while he won many battles in the center area. The reason for him Sakicwho is playing a very good game as a midfielder for the second time in a row (after that with AEK).
The whistle: It wasn’t a very difficult phase. On the contrary, there were many yellow ones, nine the total for both.
