Opinion – É Logo Ali: Project shows what walking, drawing and meditating have in common

Walking through the center of São Paulo is a pleasure that we often find a way to share around here. Even more and more difficult, due to the violence and uncertainties surrounding cracolândia, which today spreads in small groups throughout the region, every excuse is little to walk through the historic streets of this city that has so much to show – despite the bad will of their managers. And it is to be inspired by the city with a rhythm that is different from the daily hustle and bustle that the project was born. #want to walk with me, by architect Wans Spiess, who will develop a different theme on the first Sunday of each month. In this first edition, on the 5th, the theme will be the Zen DeZenho Walk, which aims to combine meditation and drawing with walking.

Developed in partnership with artist and architect Carol Engetsu, who practices Zen Buddhism, the Zen DeZenho project aims to provoke participants so that, through a drawing made at the beginning of the walk, and another at the end, they show the stimuli that the city provided them. “We’re going to make a drawing before the start of the walk, still on Roosevelt, and another one at the end, at the top of the Planalto, so that each one can show how the walk has impacted their eyes”, says Spiess.

The design material and guidance for the meditation will be given at the beginning of the tour and the end of the tour will be on the rooftop terrace of the Planalto building, itself an iconic building in São Paulo, designed in 1964 by the architect Artacho Jurado, and from which attendees can take in a 360-degree view of the city to reinforce inspiration.

“Nobody needs to know how to draw or meditate, our proposal is precisely to ask each one to bring their beginner’s look and show what inspired them on the walk, which will be done very slowly, in maximum silence, between Franklin Roosevelt square and the Planalto building” , a short journey accessible to everyone”, she says.

Registration for the premiere, which costs BRL 80 including drawing material, can be made through the project’s chat channel, via the link https://chat.whatsapp.com/C4NBlhsuxj1I4x8B6p36rw.
