Biden’s chief of staff hinted at a new candidacy for the president

“I look forward to standing by your side when you run for president in 2024,” said outgoing Ron Klein

Outgoing White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein, during his farewell address yesterday, predicted that Joe Biden will run again in the 2024 presidential election.

With Biden standing by his side, Klein fought back tears in his emotional speech before dozens of staff members, many of whom consider themselves “Kleins.”

“As I did in 1988, 2008 and 2020, I look forward to standing by your side when you run for president in 2024,” Klein said.

The 80-year-old US president has often expressed his intention to run for a second four-year term in the US presidency, and his advisers expect him to make a formal announcement in the coming weeks.

Biden is expected to complete a medical on February 16, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said earlier yesterday.

If he runs, one of the challenges of the election campaign for Biden, who is already the oldest president the US has ever had, will be to reassure Americans about his ability to govern until he is 86.

Klein will be succeeded as chief of staff to the US president by Jeff Zayeds, who was the coordinator of the White House’s policy against the COVID-19 pandemic.
