The Dallas Mavericks set off the ‘bombshell’ of the year in the NBA on Sunday night (05/02), with Luka Doncic’s team moving forward to sign Kyrie Irving with exchange from them Brooklyn Nets!
Despite interest from around half the league in acquiring the 30-year-old guard, the Mavs beat out the competition and brought “Uncle Drew” to Dallas, forming, along with Donicic, one of the most talented and explosive twins right now in the NBA!
The Mavericks had to send Kevin Durant’s Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Feeney-Smithbut also the draft pick first round of the 2029 season, and two second round (2027, 2029). In fact, to reach the agreement, the Nets included Marquis Morris in the exchange.
This season, Irving is having a great season as it counts 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 40 regular season games.
The only thing that remains to be proven in practice now is whether Doncic and Irving will be able to coexist harmoniously, given of course the… special character of “Uncle Drew”…
The Mavericks are sending a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick to the Nets, sources @TheAthletic @Stadium. Brooklyn also is sending Markieff Morris to Dallas. https://t.co/EtqlQqQuGq
